Can O' Worms!
Some of you got an email from me a few days ago, warning you about the virus being sent through email with the subject line "Party Pictures," or some such thing. I am usually SO careful about not opening up attachments I get in email. And I usually have Norton AntiVirus running in the background. Leave it to the fates to let me down that day. I guess it just came at a bad time. My good friend, JES, had just returned from a trip to the Middle East, and just before she visited me at Christmas she had a birthday party. So when the email said that she finally had her party pictures and she put them on line at a yahoo site, I just assumed it was from her, and I clicked on the site. I got the stupid email repeatedly, and I clicked on it no less than 3 times, thinking that she had just screwed it up somehow (sorry, JES). A few hours later, I heard on the news about the worm being passed in that email. SHIT! It was ok until I shut down the computer that night. It hung up, not wanting to close. When I opened it in the morning, there were all kinds of errors, including the deadly "kernel" error.
So that's where I have been over the last several days, trying to isolate and irradiate the virus. But I finally had to throw in the towel this morning, and since we were home on a snow day, I backed up what data I needed and I reformatted the hard drive and reinstalled all of the drivers and messed with the dsl modem until I nearly screamed, and then finally it all started coming in to line. I was never so happy to see 91 messages in my email inbox (and not a ONE of them mentioning party pics!)
I am happy to be back. Not much has changed. I am still the same weight (so much for all of the worrying that you did about my plan to lose it rapidly). I have been sick with some sinus crap that's going around at school. I started a post about some new clothes on Saturday, before we crashed, so I will try and finish that tomorrow. Right now I have to download all of the naked Sims people I lost in the reformat.
