Got Some Pop? I had no idea that this controversy raged beyond the doors of my home. Raised here in the mid-west, I use the term "pop," as does 75% of my county, and 67% of the state. MOTH, on the other hand, raised down at the BOTTOM of the state, insists that it's SODA we drink along with the 91% of his fellow county-men (but only 26% of his statesmen) who are wrong. My darling daughter found out the fast way that where she's at, they call anything with fizz "Coke" (84%). She was asked what kind of Coke she wanted...and responded, a bit confused, that she'd prefer a "regular" one. The oddest thing I found about the controversy, is that there is a fourth category. "Other." I'm very curious. Aside from "pop," "soda," and "coke," what the hell else would it be called? Take the survey. Vote your preference! CLICK HERE. Find out how cool you are (cool people say "pop.") There is also a link there to other dialect studies. I found it pretty amusing stuff. Won't you PLEASE leave your feedback here? 0 readers left their mark on this one!
