It might make a bit more sense that way, and you might stumble upon one of my better postings in case this one sorta just sucks! CLICK HERE for a RANDOM ENTRY. Friday, Sept. 26, 2003 - 8:41 P.M. I'm Wet for Hardware A few weeks ago, while I was kind of in my "silent" period, I got me this fine machine. Yeah, MOTH decided that it was time we splurged on me. So, we took my computer out of the living room and took it down to the bedroom for MOTH (it was the best one since I do so much graphic work). Moth scoured out all of the indecent things ;-) and sent it up to the Beast (it has the largest hard drive to store her legally obtained music). She relinquished the computer from their dad (with a faster processor that MOTH's) to Finchie. I renovated Eldest's summer vacation bedroom into an office with a daybed, and we went to Ikea to get a nice REAL furniture desk. And then we ordered me up something real sweet. Are all you geeks out there ready? The Dell 4600Cis tiny! I dummied down a few options since we didn't have unlimited funds, and splurged on some sweetness. First, I dummied down the processor, strange as that may sound. But since I was used to a 333MHz I thought the upgrade would be good enough with a Pentium 4 Processor at 2.4GHz w/533MHz front side bus/ 512K L2 Cache. Whhheeeeeeeee! And then I splurged on ONE GB of RAM. Yeah baby! Not 256mg or 512. Nah. A GIG! Bwaaahaaahaaaaaaaa. I took a pass on the 3.5 floppy disk drive and a CD burner, since the 4600C only has room for one drive, I opted for a DVD ROM. Have you seen the new USB memory keys? Who needs more than one CD Burner in the house? Since MOTH's got one, I'll just transfer my info with the key to that machine...except I never really have to since the key fits in any XP machine with a USB port. I upgraded to Windows XP Professional, but kept the Word Perfect it came with (since I already have MS Office Professional on CD). It came with an 80GB hard drive. I added my Microsoft natural ergonomic multimedia keyboard and a logitech cordless mouse. Oh but I REALLY went over the top with one thing. I got an 18" flat panel display. And I am loving it. Ok, look. There was no Friday Five this week, just when I really needed for there to be. I don't have a lot to say, I'm just a bit sleepy and fairly content and still fat, so I just thought I'd do a little geek-speak on this cold wet Friday night. And now JAG is on, so I bid you adieu. Won't you PLEASE leave your feedback here? 0 readers left their mark on this one!
