Happy Thanksgiving

So today everyone posts lists of things for which they give thanks. Frankly, if I even attempted to post only HALF of my thanks, I wouldn't have enough bandwidth. Everything, everyone in my life is brilliant, perfect, and I don't know how or why I am so lucky, but I don't want to question it too much. Just enjoy it, that's my motto.

What I would ask of everyone who reads this today, if you are so inclined, is to perhaps lend a hand or a prayer to those who may have difficulty on this day finding anything for which to give thanks. I think particularly about a co-worker who, like too many families this year, finds themselves at the Thanksgiving gathering a family member short. This first year, deep in grief and consumed with anger over a war they once believed in, they will have a very difficult time being thankful for anything. In fact, they are struggling with their own belief in everything they once believed in: God, Country, Safety, Wealth, Health, and Happiness.

So that's my soapbox for this day. Frankly, I will hold this in my mind for a good part of the day, and i will speak my prayers as we all gather at mom's house and hold hands to each speak our words before dinner. And then I will likely put such thoughts out of my head while I over indulge in all of the wonderful culinary delights. Hey. I'm just being honest.

And thankful.
