Thanks, Guys and Gals

Thank you to all who have served our country during a time of need. I don't mean just those who physically died, because as I've learned, when you engage in war and experience things none of the rest of us can imagine, a piece of you dies too. It's so easy to simply be "against" the war. It's easy to point out the horrors, the mistakes, the tragic loss of each life. War is horrible. Death is horrible. I don't know how all (or most) of you survivors walk around and maintain sanity, having seen what you've seen. I can't even bear to watch that kind of thing on a movie or television screen. I don't want to know what war looks like, sounds like, smells like. I don't want to know at what point I'd break. I don't want to know at what point I would do something I'd never even considered doing, or something I swore I'd never do.

So, thank you, all of you.
